മുത്തശ്ശിയെ സംരക്ഷിക്കണമെന്ന പേരക്കുട്ടിയോടുള്ള ആവശ്യം യുക്തിസഹമല്ലെന്നും കോടതി വിലയിരുത്തി. കൊച്ചി സ്വദേശിനിയായ ഫിഷറീസ് വകുപ്പ് മുൻ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥയാണ് ഹൈക്കോടതിയെ സമീപിച്ചത്. സർവീസിലിരിക്കെ അന്തരിച്ച മകന്റെ പെൻഷൻ ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങളും മറ്റ് ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങളും ലഭിക്കുന്ന മരുമകളും 22 വയസ്സുള്ള പേരക്കുട്ടിയും തനിക്ക് ജീവനാംശം നൽകണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടായിരുന്നു ഹർജി.
മകന് അർഹമായ ആശ്രിത ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് 12,28,646 രൂപ കെഎസ്ഇബി ഹർജിക്കാരിക്ക് നേരിട്ട് നൽകിയിരുന്നു. ഇതിനുപുറമേ, മകന്റെ മരണാനന്തര പെൻഷനിൽനിന്ന് പ്രതിമാസം 15,000 രൂപ കൂടി നൽകാൻ ഉത്തരവിടണമെന്നുമായിരുന്നു ഇവരുടെ ആവശ്യം.
